To all the soapers who entered this challenge or tried the technique.... You knocked it out of the park!!! I was BLOWN AWAY by all of the skill, creativity and hard work. It was painful to vote.... seriously!. 🙏👏🏻💪 . . P.S. When I was typing this, autocorrect almost tricked me into calling y’all diapers and soakers instead of soapers. Glad I caught that. 😳

Instagram post 1986494407529938635_5455312626 3-Clay "Kisses & Hugs" soap was one of my batches made for the Feb 2019 #soapchallengeclub competition. . . 🎨 Colors: Red Brazilian clay, purple Brazilian clay, & titanium dioxide. Added a Maya gold mica line in between color layers. . . ➕Added bentonite clay to the fragrance combination of Black Cherry Bomb, Lick Me All Over, and Black Raspberry Vanilla. . . 🔥 Processed in the oven for 2 hours after pouring at 170 degrees Fahrenheit and let it sit in the residually warm oven for 24 hours. . . ☀️ Because I used clay for color, there was a SUBSTANTIAL difference in color by forcing gel phase. The colors in the oven processed soap were very bright and rich compared with the soap from the same batch left at room temperature. . . 💦 The glycerine rivers I was attempting to create were present, but not very noticeable. . . The mica used for the stamp on the front is shimmer gold. (Honestly, I thought this soap was borderline blah until I stamped them. It totally changed the look!) . . 📷 The main photos were taken outside on a cloudy day with an iPhone 7, using Snapseed to adjust the color to show properly.
Instagram post 1983577139720318642_5455312626 Time to get cutting! 👏🏻 . . This is my "Forget-Me-Not" entry for the Feb 2019 Soap Challenge Club competition. A special thanks to Clara at @auntieclaras and Amy Warden @soapchallengeclub for the excellent tutorials and for changing my views on glycerine rivers! 💕 . I'm grateful I didn't have my soap go VOLCANO on me after putting it in the oven! 🌋 Next time? I'll put a pan or tin foil below to catch any oozing messes. . . 🤦‍♀️What I learned NOT to do... 1. Put my soap in the teeny tiny oven part in my double oven. The towels kept getting smooshed off when I tried to slide it in. 2. Use a taller mold if I want to do piping on top and still be able to cover it. I'm not loving the squatty bar look, but everything else worked. . . Results? Yes, since I heated it in the oven to gel and did full water, I did get glycerine rivers in every color. Not massive amounts and it's probably because I dinged around too long adding the piping. 😬I am totally surprised that all colors have glycerine rivers!! I expected the micas to hinder that. 👏🏻 . . 🌿 Scented with the tried and true no-fail White Tea & Ginger . . 🎨 Colors: Titanium dioxide mixed in water. Purple Vibrance Mica, Neon Blue Bye You Powder, Green Vibrance Mica, Green Chrome Oxide Pigment, Matte Cobalt Blue Ultramarine Powder, Yellow Vibrance Mica, Orange Vibrance Mica. All but the Titanium Dioxide were mixed in glycerine before adding to the soap. . . 🔪 Cut the bars using my cheesy & cheap marble cheese slicer. 🙄 . . 📷 The soap was photographed indoors with a basic lighting setup. The photograph was taken using an iPhone 7. . . 🖌 To edit the photo, I used a free app called Snapseed. It’s great for white balancing and darkening/lightening the black background. There is a TON of things you can do with it and I totally love it! 💕
